In the interest of beating what seems to be a very dead horse around here, I'm posting links to the draft versions of the 2008 Orphan Works which were recently released:
Here's the House version:
[link]Here's the Senate version (I think they're almost exactly the same):
[link]Also, here's a website with a variety pre-written, editable letters opposing the bill. All you have to do is fill in your address at the bottom and hit "send." Easy!
[link]And for anyone outside the U.S. wanting to oppose the bill, a sample letter and where to send it:
[link]On a personal note, I've been really sick for the last three weeks. Seems I have some sort of chronic condition which I'm currently trying to get under control with medication. So, if you have any spare good thoughts or prayers laying around, send them my way - I'm sure they'll help! Thanks!

Just because "they" govern us doesn't make them benevolent...OR wise.
Thanks for clearing things up.

The Flying Fickle Finger of F*ck You has poked me in the eyeball once again....
Thanks for the comment - that article linked in the journal looks like the same one that caused the uproar a couple weeks ago. I think a good source of info on this issue for artists is from the IPA: [link] There are a ton of articles on the history of what's going on with all this. It may be alarmist, but as I see it, the IPA's interests are aligned with my own, so I tend to agree more with their views than others out there. The 2008 draft bills have just been released so I'll post them momentarily. As I read them, they sound very detrimental to artists who care about maintaining the exclusivity of their rights. There's some good intent behind the OWA, but there's just way too much wrong with it - at least as artists are concerned. Did this help at all?? I think I'm rambling...
A case of "here we go again?" I told them to keep an eye open but don't panic for now.
Should I have? I think ALL of us are sick of threats, whether it's the misrepresented "OWA" or not. Just wanted your thoughs.
